Episode 1

The Key to a Happy Marriage - It's All About Learning How to Laugh Folks

Welcome to the first episode of our brand new podcast! We’ve learned a lot about our podcasting journey over the past few years, and what we’re really good at. So let us reintroduce ourselves. We are Matt & Dynae, a couple of elder millennials just trying to navigate (gasp!) midlife. From how we manage a 20+ year relationship starting as high school sweethearts, parenting teens when we barely feel like adults ourselves, to the absolute crazy train that is life now. Come follow along as we do this thing with a relatable take on life, love, and relationships, always with a healthy dose of humor.

Parenting Teens

In this episode, we also introduce how we parent teens and how we've had to approach it entirely different than we did when our kids were younger.

Matt:

Welcome to the Happily Ever Laughter podcast.

2

:

Dynae: A positive space where we try to

find the humor in the craziness of life.

3

:

Matt: Because life is crazy.

4

:

Dynae: That's for sure.

5

:

Matt: I'm Matt.

6

:

Dynae: And I'm Dynae.

7

:

Matt: And now on with the show.

8

:

I haven't taken my

medication this morning.

9

:

Dynae: You should have.

10

:

Matt: Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the

first ever Happily Ever Laughter podcast.

11

:

I'm matt.

12

:

Dynae: And I'm Dynae.

13

:

Matt: Welcome.

14

:

Dynae: Welcome everyone.

15

:

We're excited to be here.

16

:

Matt: Indeed.

17

:

Dynae: What are we gonna talk about?

18

:

Matt: I don't know.

19

:

We're gonna talk about this new podcast

endeavor that we're probably going to

20

:

expand this journey of our horizons.

21

:

Dynae: Yeah.

22

:

Well, that was a weird way to put

it, but, , this is actually our, uh,

23

:

Matt: I haven't taken my medication

this morning, so there's a lot of

24

:

stuff happening in my brain right now.

25

:

Dynae: Just so you know, anyone

that has not listened to us in the

26

:

past, because this is actually our

third endeavor in doing a podcast.

27

:

Matt: We should probably start with that.

28

:

Dynae: Yeah, so...

29

:

Matt: And that's part of the

ADHD you're talking about.

30

:

I have ADHD.

31

:

Dynae: And that explains

everything that's happened so far.

32

:

Matt: Yes.

33

:

let's journey to the beginning.

34

:

Okay, so this is our third podcast that

35

:

we've...

36

:

Dynae: Technically, yeah.

37

:

Matt: Technically.

38

:

Dynae: It's been the third iteration.

39

:

Matt: That's true.

40

:

So we basically started our

first ever podcast, which was

41

:

called Couple Thoughts Podcast.

42

:

And Dynae and I are both self

employed small business owners.

43

:

Dynae: Creatives.

44

:

Matt: Creatives.

45

:

So I'm an entertainer for a living.

46

:

I travel around, do comedy and music

and, you know, like normal people.

47

:

Dynae: Yeah, and I'm a photographer

and graphic designer, so work at

48

:

home a lot and do a lot of that

kind of creative work for me.

49

:

Matt: Yeah, so basically the

first iteration of our podcast

50

:

was us trying to give advice to

51

:

Dynae: Well, it happened during the

:

52

:

Matt: For sure.

53

:

Yes.

54

:

Dynae: Because we were literally

locked down, could not work.

55

:

Cause we're non essential workers.

56

:

And so we needed a, we needed a

creative outlet to do just stay sane.

57

:

So that's what we started with.

58

:

Matt: Well, and I bought both

of these microphones we're using

59

:

because during lockdown, I wasn't

able to travel and perform.

60

:

And so I wanted to start trying

to get into voiceover work because

61

:

I've always kind of had, I've

always had that radio voice.

62

:

Dynae: Yeah.

63

:

Matt: So I was like, well,

let me just jump into that.

64

:

So I bought some microphones.

65

:

. You already had a bunch of

stuff for your photography.

66

:

Dynae: Yeah.

67

:

Matt: So it was like, we

already have the capability, why

68

:

don't we just start a podcast?

69

:

We're both relatively

entertaining to listen to.

70

:

Dynae: Hopefully.

71

:

Matt: Hopefully.

72

:

Dynae: If you've made it this far.

73

:

Matt: If anybody has made it 38

seconds into this podcast, welcome.

74

:

Dynae: Woohoo!

75

:

Matt: But yeah, so we were like,

well, let's start a podcast.

76

:

So we started that one.

77

:

That one was all about.

78

:

Self employment.

79

:

Yeah.

80

:

And trying to help small businesses

go through the struggles that

81

:

you and I went through at the

beginning of our companies and how

82

:

we kind of persevered through that.

83

:

So we wanted to help people.

84

:

And then we realized that wasn't

as fun because we could never

85

:

talk about movies or pop culture.

86

:

Or any other stuff?

87

:

Dynae: Really?

88

:

Anything interesting

after a certain point?

89

:

Matt: Cause who wants to listen to

you talk about your business all day?

90

:

Dynae: I mean, no offense.

91

:

There are some very, very good and popular

business podcasts out there for sure.

92

:

Matt: Yes.

93

:

Dynae: We just figured as we were

working on this, we were like, okay,

94

:

that's not really our personalities.

95

:

I mean, we do have a lot

of good advice and we'll.

96

:

Pepper it in here and there.

97

:

Matt: Ooh.

98

:

Dynae: Pepper it in.

99

:

Matt: Delicious.

100

:

Dynae: Get a little spice going.

101

:

It was more just like, you know, after a

while, there's nothing else to talk about.

102

:

You've already hit all

of the basic things.

103

:

And then it's just like, okay,

well, what else can we talk about?

104

:

We're also entering our

forties and have teenagers now.

105

:

And so we've got three kids

and , well, we should, we do like

106

:

more parenting kind of content.

107

:

Matt: That was before the first one.

108

:

We are now both into our forties.

109

:

Dynae: Yeah.

110

:

That's true.

111

:

Yeah...

112

:

boo

113

:

Matt: So basically a couple thoughts

then turned into Self Made Misfits

114

:

because where we live, , we kind of

feel like we don't certainly fit in.

115

:

There's a lot of whether it be political

differences or all kinds of just different

116

:

stuff that we have, you know what I mean?

117

:

Like we just felt like we didn't belong.

118

:

Kind of in our area.

119

:

And then we had a lot of other

things happening, which we

120

:

might get into in this podcast,

121

:

Dynae: Which we will, I believe

that was kind of the evolution

122

:

of how everything's been going.

123

:

, because at first you're like, well, we

want to keep things you know, certain

124

:

things in our life private and probably

should remain that way but at the other

125

:

time there is a lot of stuff that we've

been going through personally that I think

126

:

Is helpful To the greater conversations

that are happening in the world today

127

:

Matt: That is true.

128

:

Dynae: And so while we don't want to

get our podcast name is Happily Ever

129

:

Laughter we have a healthy dose of

comedy and humor going on in here because

130

:

you're literally a comedian for a living

131

:

Matt: well, and that's my trauma

response is anytime something

132

:

goes wrong or something is rough.

133

:

I tend to be like, I'm going to

do something funny because I want

134

:

to make everybody feel better.

135

:

Dynae: Yeah.

136

:

Matt: Lighten the mood.

137

:

Dynae: And so while there's that,

we also want to talk about the

138

:

real stuff and let's just say

shit that has been going on.

139

:

Matt: Oh my goodness.

140

:

Dynae: Yeah.

141

:

I threw it out there.

142

:

This isn't going to be

like a mostly PG 13.

143

:

Matt: I was going to say, we didn't

say any swear words in our first two

144

:

iterations and you were right off the bat.

145

:

Dynae: Yes, we did.

146

:

You had to put explicit on

the last one a few times.

147

:

Matt: What?

148

:

Dynae: Yep.

149

:

Matt: Okay.

150

:

I see how it is.

151

:

Dynae: So while we do take a humorous

approach to life in general, I mean,

152

:

that's, I feel like go back even further.

153

:

We're high school sweethearts.

154

:

Matt: Yep.

155

:

Dynae: We met when we were 15, 16.

156

:

I

157

:

Matt: was 15.

158

:

I think you were 16.

159

:

Dynae: Yep.

160

:

And we were friends for a little

while and then just started dating and

161

:

we've been together ever since that.

162

:

So this has been a like, what?

163

:

I was calculating it up, 25 years

we've been a couple, something like...

164

:

Matt: you remember when we met

each other in high school...

165

:

Dynae: Anyway, we're coming up,

this next year will be our 20th

166

:

year married, which is just like

mind blowing to me a little bit.

167

:

Matt: Is it?

168

:

Dynae: Yes.

169

:

Matt: Oh.

170

:

Dynae: So there is definitely the

relationship component of like, , people

171

:

always ask us, how did we make it?

172

:

, what makes a good relationship last?

173

:

Matt: Hmm.

174

:

Dynae: So we can talk about a

lot of stuff like that, about

175

:

like how we navigate stuff.

176

:

Matt: Yeah.

177

:

Dynae: You know, and deal with everything.

178

:

The biggest thing is that we're

just partners and friends.

179

:

We love certain things and we're

on the same page about certain

180

:

things and that certainly helps

our relationship in general.

181

:

Matt: Correct.

182

:

. So that's basically why we've

decided to do this third iteration

183

:

of Happily Ever Laughter because now

we can talk about whatever we want.

184

:

Dynae: Don't feel like we're boxed in.

185

:

Matt: Yeah, for sure.

186

:

Dynae: It's one of those things.

187

:

There's so many different topics that

we'd like to talk about, which is like

188

:

movie reviews, but also the real in depth

stuff and like mental health and things

189

:

that we've been going through in our

personal life that is tough and relatable.

190

:

And I feel like there's just

a lot of people that could use

191

:

that support out there too.

192

:

Matt: Yeah.

193

:

And because we've gone through a lot

of different stuff with us or with the

194

:

kids or going through therapy or some

of these things that we feel like.

195

:

Man, this has really strengthened

a lot of family dynamics, the

196

:

way we interact with the kids.

197

:

You know, there's kind of that no handbook

that they ever give you when you become a

198

:

parent to be like, Hey, this can happen.

199

:

And then this can happen.

200

:

And then how do you handle it?

201

:

Dynae: And we have been

thrown some curve balls.

202

:

So it's definitely not a one size fits

all when it comes to parenting and

203

:

everybody's different and everybody

has different life experiences.

204

:

But I feel like at the same time,

we can all learn from each other

205

:

and help each other through the hard

times when you realize that you're

206

:

not the only one going through it.

207

:

Matt: Correct.

208

:

And I've actually had family members and

, , well, I should go into what I do too.

209

:

I was headlining.

210

:

on a Disney cruise.

211

:

Me and my buddy have a show

called Buckets N Boards.

212

:

Dynae: There's a lot of people that

are probably listening that kind of

213

:

already know this, but obviously for

new listeners, for people who have never

214

:

heard of us and know what we're all

about, that's what you do as your day job.

215

:

Matt: Well, and the reason I brought

that up, I will go into Buckets N Boards

216

:

here in a second, but one of my friends

who is sign language interpreter on

217

:

the ship, Was asking me what are you

guys gonna start your podcast back?

218

:

Dynae: Oh, cool

219

:

Matt: so I already had somebody

within this last week going Hey,

220

:

when is your podcast coming back?

221

:

Cuz I really miss listening to you guys

222

:

Dynae: and honestly It's taken us a song

because life just got in the way life,

223

:

Matt: life is life

224

:

Dynae: and we got a lot busy The kids got

busy and you know how it is When you're

225

:

a parent or just in general, , with

job changes or anything that happens,

226

:

we were building our whole recording

studio in the basement of our house.

227

:

Matt: So we're sitting in an

area right now where our oldest

228

:

Camryn and I do a YouTube . It's

called Matt and Camryn react.

229

:

Dynae: You have a channel.

230

:

Matt: A YouTube channel.

231

:

Yeah.

232

:

So it's all heavy metal

reactions for the most part.

233

:

And so we were trying to set that

up and then I travel so much for

234

:

work, so I'm editing those videos.

235

:

I'm doing my own work.

236

:

I'm doing my own graphics

for the business.

237

:

, Dynae's going to kind of take

over a little bit on the podcast,

238

:

so let her know how she's doing.

239

:

Dun, dun, dun.

240

:

I'm going to teach her how to edit all

of these , so it should be really fun.

241

:

Dynae: We like to learn new things.

242

:

Matt: Yeah.

243

:

Like, I'm always interested in, , what

is something new that I can learn?

244

:

I recently, six months ago, bought a...

245

:

3 D printer.

246

:

That's the most fun I've

ever had in my life.

247

:

Dynae: By the way, if there's a person

in your life that has ADHD, that's

248

:

probably the best thing you could

ever buy them is something like that.

249

:

Cause he's just like constantly,

I have a new project I can do.

250

:

Matt: Well and the cool thing is

if there's something in your house

251

:

you're missing and you're going,

man, I wish I had a part for this.

252

:

Guess what?

253

:

Dynae: You can make it.

254

:

Matt: I can just go design it

and print it in my own house.

255

:

Dynae: The amount of time since

he's gotten this thing, he's come

256

:

to bed at night being like, I just

can't believe what I just did.

257

:

Has been hilarious.

258

:

Matt: So if you have an ADHD person

that needs to feel amazed with

259

:

themselves, get them a 3D printer.

260

:

They'll enjoy it.

261

:

Dynae: It'll, , return its

investment , quite thoroughly for you.

262

:

Matt: For sure.

263

:

So we were talking about Buckets N Boards.

264

:

I was talking about the Disney Cruise.

265

:

I might as well go into that.

266

:

For those of you who are joining

us once again, if you ever

267

:

listen to Couple Thoughts or

Self Made Misfits, welcome back.

268

:

We are super excited

to have you guys again.

269

:

But I am a professional entertainer.

270

:

So I'm a comedian, musician.

271

:

My show is called Buckets N

Boards Comedy Percussion Show.

272

:

And my buddy and I, it's a two

man comedy show, all based around

273

:

rhythm and that type of stuff.

274

:

We've been together for

16 years doing our show.

275

:

Mainly, a lot of stuff now is

touring around the United States.

276

:

We've headlined for Disney

Cruise Lines for about 12 years.

277

:

As some of their featured

headline entertainers.

278

:

It's just been a crazy journey that I get

to professionally goof off and get paid.

279

:

One of our main numbers in our show,

we play recorders like you do when

280

:

you're in school, but we play them

out of both nostrils while beatboxing.

281

:

Dynae: And there's videos online

if you want to go check that out.

282

:

Matt: True story.

283

:

Dynae: It is so funny when we

try to explain to people what

284

:

your show is like as well.

285

:

What generation are you from?

286

:

Because, , if you're older, then you might

recognize the name Smothers brothers.

287

:

Matt: And that was a big inspiration

in what we started the show with.

288

:

We wanted it to be kind of a...

289

:

Smothers Brothers vibe where

they're always kind of, uh,

290

:

messing with each other.

291

:

And then that evolved from us messing

with each other to messing with the crowd

292

:

and then getting the crowd involved.

293

:

Dynae: And then also like

if you're our age, you might

294

:

recognize Flight of the Concords

295

:

Matt: or Tenacious D

296

:

Dynae: Tenacious D that kind of vibe

back and forth on each other where

297

:

it's musical, but also comedies,

you know, throughout the whole show.

298

:

Matt: One of our social media

pages says, Tap and Percussion

299

:

Duo of Unparalleled Duo-ness.

300

:

Dynae: It's just really funny, but

it's one of those things, you know,

301

:

you originally created it cause you

and Gareth, your business partner

302

:

are both, , entertainers by trade.

303

:

You went to school for it, . And you met.

304

:

In another show, but you

wanted to create something.

305

:

We were starting to have kids about the

time that you guys all met and you wanted

306

:

to create something that was family

friendly, but also our kind of humor.

307

:

And there was nothing in

our area that was like that.

308

:

We come from an entertainment town.

309

:

So it's one of those things.

310

:

I was like, what would our kids

want to watch and sit through?

311

:

Matt: That was literally the

way we created the show was

312

:

going, what would I want to see?

313

:

And what would my kids think is funny?

314

:

So our show is like a live action

Shrek movie in a way where....

315

:

The kids are loving it, there's

lights, there's glow in the

316

:

dark, there's a lot of things.

317

:

But every once in a while, Gareth and

I throw in these little jokes that

318

:

just go over their heads that are

specifically right to the parents.

319

:

Dynae: Yeah, that's super fun.

320

:

So, , you could go to their

website, bucketsnboards.com.

321

:

We can put that in the show

notes , and you can check out some

322

:

of their demo videos if you want to.

323

:

Matt: Buckets, the letter N, Boards.

324

:

com.

325

:

Dynae: Honestly, it will help

explain a lot of what happens.

326

:

of while you're listening to us.

327

:

Matt: That's true.

328

:

Or you can go to our YouTube

channel and watch some videos and

329

:

that'll probably make sense too.

330

:

Dynae: and then there's me on the other

side, which I'm the creative graphic

331

:

design and taught you how to do it.

332

:

So now you can do it on your

own and all of that good stuff.

333

:

I'm kind of like the backbone.

334

:

Taking care of the kids when you're

gone and all that kind of stuff.

335

:

Matt: Oh, I have one more on here.

336

:

I should probably read through your notes.

337

:

That's another thing

we're going to realize.

338

:

Sometimes I don't read

the notes before the show.

339

:

So I go off script a lot.

340

:

I like to wing it.

341

:

And that's kind of what I do in my show.

342

:

Dynae: Though at the same time, I have

to give you an outline of some sort, or

343

:

we will completely go off on tangents.

344

:

Matt: That is very true.

345

:

So, one of the other things we have down

here, and I did kind of talk about it,

346

:

is you can also go, I have a voiceover

page, it's just MatthewLevingston.

347

:

com, , Dynae will put

that in the show notes.

348

:

I also do voiceover work, and that's

something that I've been doing

349

:

outside of the Buckets N Boards show.

350

:

Dynae: Not that we're trying to pitch

everything we do here, but it explains...

351

:

Matt: that's what it is...

352

:

Dynae: All of the different things

and outlets that we have creatively,

353

:

and obviously with all these different

things you can be like, yep, That's

354

:

a neurodivergent family right there.

355

:

Yeah.

356

:

Matt: By the end of it, you'll go,

how many hobbies do these people have?

357

:

Dynae: Too many.

358

:

That's the answer.

359

:

Too many.

360

:

Matt: Indeed.

361

:

Dynae: And so we kind of talked about

that's where we're at with this whole

362

:

thing and then, , , what's our main goal

for this whole podcast to begin with now

363

:

that we're into this third era, I guess.

364

:

Matt: And I believe this

will be the FINA era.

365

:

Did I say FINA?

366

:

Dynae: You did.

367

:

Matt: This'll be the final era.

368

:

Final era.

369

:

Dynae: He also beatboxes

from time to time.

370

:

Sorry about that, guys.

371

:

Matt: So if you're in

your car, you're welcome.

372

:

Dynae: Mm hmm.

373

:

Matt: No, we're hoping

this is the last rendition.

374

:

Dynae: I feel like we finally

found our podcasting personality.

375

:

Matt: That's really what it was.

376

:

The first two podcasts were

to find out what we do best

377

:

and what we like to do best.

378

:

Dynae: And what our listeners

wanted to hear out of us.

379

:

Matt: That's true.

380

:

Yeah, we did gain a pretty decent

fan base throughout those first two.

381

:

The unfortunate thing with this one

is we're going to have to wipe all the

382

:

other ones and just start this one fresh.

383

:

Dynae: We might talk about some of the

same concepts and topics and stuff that we

384

:

did before, obviously, as we were kind of

finding ourselves, I guess, so to speak.

385

:

Matt: Finding ourselves.

386

:

Dynae: it'll be interesting for us going

back even a year or two removed how things

387

:

have changed and, , what we think now.

388

:

Matt: It's true.

389

:

Dynae: Some of these topics I

was going back and looking at.

390

:

I was like, yeah, we

definitely need to redo that.

391

:

We definitely should talk about that

again and, you know, build on them.

392

:

Matt: Correct.

393

:

Dynae: It'll be interesting

for us too, guys.

394

:

Matt: Yeah, for sure.

395

:

Dynae: More than anything, I feel

like Our main goal is to just build

396

:

community, talking about all these

things, helping each other through these

397

:

crazy times, because I don't know about

everybody else, but I know Matt and I,

398

:

we've talked about this a lot as we've

entered our 40s now, dun, dun, dun.

399

:

That things feel even more chaotic,

and let's be honest, The world is

400

:

chaos right now, it feels like,

if you're, on social media at all.

401

:

A lot of that is balancing this growth

that we've had from being high school

402

:

sweethearts and meeting when we were

15 and like how we've grown as a

403

:

couple and managed to navigate all of

this now that we're entering midlife.

404

:

It's just been a crazy kind of ride

and I feel like helping other people

405

:

try to navigate that and maybe our

opinions and things have changed quite

406

:

a bit on what have you I mean religion

politics life in general how we parent

407

:

Matt: Yeah

408

:

Dynae: You know we've evolved a lot

over the past few years and kind of

409

:

landed where we are and sometimes it

feels like we're alone in it We're

410

:

like, are we in the twilight zone?

411

:

This can't be, we're not the only

people that are thinking these things.

412

:

Matt: So we kind of started the podcast

to put our own stuff into the universe

413

:

because we know there's other people.

414

:

That are similar to us

415

:

Dynae: and we've gotten that feedback.

416

:

I mean like it's very relatable the

stuff that you guys talk about And so

417

:

that's our goal is to really just be

relatable But also pepper in that humor

418

:

that like guys you can't get through

this life the way that it is without

419

:

that humor either Yeah, you know, we

want to spread that positivity We want

420

:

to have a good sense of humor about even

the bad stuff that happens while still

421

:

recognizing All of the stuff that happens.

422

:

Matt: For sure.

423

:

So we want this to be a

community thing together.

424

:

So follow our social medias if you

haven't yet, because every podcast will

425

:

also kind of have its own personalized

spin if you guys throw us information

426

:

or if you go, Hey, you should do

a podcast about a haunted mansion.

427

:

Dynae: Well and that's

getting into the next step.

428

:

I was like, so what, what are

some of the things that you're

429

:

going to hear from this podcast?

430

:

Matt: Oh, did I jump ahead?

431

:

Dynae: Just a tiny bit, but it's like

one of those things like here's what

432

:

to expect and I'm gonna warn you right

from the jump It's gonna be all over the

433

:

place because that's kind of how we are.

434

:

So Matt what some of the things

that we love that we built on this

435

:

that we want to keep talking about?

436

:

Matt: Well one thing that we are huge

in our family is we're big into movies

437

:

Dynae: And, and TV, , that kind of

thing now that there's streaming

438

:

services and all of these series

and stuff that's come out.

439

:

So there will be probably a lot

of reviews that we end up doing

440

:

.

Matt: That would be fun

441

:

Dynae: Because it's just fun for us.

442

:

Yeah.

443

:

So kind of palate cleansers

in between the heavy stuff.

444

:

Matt: But that's something we do really

big time as a family, like us and the

445

:

kids will all sit down and have movie

nights because that's something we

446

:

found that's very bonding that the

kids really enjoy that we really enjoy.

447

:

We get to have that time with them.

448

:

Dynae: Yeah.

449

:

It's kind of our family time.

450

:

A lot of that is.

451

:

So lots of stuff like that.

452

:

, , spooky season is our favorite.

453

:

So we're coming back

right in the thick of it.

454

:

Matt: So starting right at Halloween

is kind of a perfect timing.

455

:

Maybe our next episode will

be about Halloween movies.

456

:

Dun, dun, dun.

457

:

Dynae: We're also, we've got

the three kids we mentioned

458

:

and we've got three cats.

459

:

So occasionally if we're yelling at

a cat, that's why they like to try

460

:

to get in here because they don't

like being behind closed doors.

461

:

Matt: Correct.

462

:

Dynae: So that's always fun.

463

:

Matt: if you hear George, Fred,

or Katniss, those are the cat's

464

:

names, or Camryn, Chloe, or

Cora, those are the kids names.

465

:

Dynae: And it's difficult now that

we're old to keep them all straight.

466

:

Matt: But I just wanted to let you know,

so once we start yelling, You'll know

467

:

if we're yelling at a child or a feline.

468

:

We are also huge Kansas City Chiefs fans.

469

:

I know when we started the podcast,

that was kind of still okay.

470

:

The Chiefs were bad for so long

and we won our first Super Bowl

471

:

when we started our first podcast.

472

:

Dynae: Yeah.

473

:

Matt: So we kind of talked

about that a little bit.

474

:

Now we're to the point of how I feel

about Patriots fans because they were

475

:

so good for so long that they're like,

we don't want to hear about it anymore.

476

:

So we'll try to keep our chief stuff.

477

:

Dynae: Yeah, we'll keep it to a minimum

478

:

Matt: at this point

479

:

Dynae: now It's hard with the

whole Taylor Travis stuff going on.

480

:

Matt: Oh, there's nothing I want

to talk about more than Taylor and

481

:

Travis And that's not being facetious.

482

:

That's true.

483

:

Dynae: We are we're also

swifties a little bit

484

:

Matt: Funny story.

485

:

I took chloe our middle

daughter to school this morning.

486

:

We have to leave at about 6:50am

I got back, uh, I took a nap and

487

:

I had a dream and you and I were

hanging out with Travis and Taylor.

488

:

Dynae: You always have

dreams about celebrities.

489

:

Matt: I do.

490

:

Dynae: I don't get it.

491

:

Matt: We were at this

big, long table and it

492

:

Dynae: Oh no, here we go guys.

493

:

Was just, it was just so, we're going

to also do dream interpretations

494

:

because Matt dreams so much.

495

:

Matt: If anybody listening is a dream

interpreter, I have the most vivid,

496

:

Dreams almost well, sometimes they're

lucid and I can control them this

497

:

one I kind of knew I was in as well

498

:

Dynae: I would hope so because we

don't really know them in real life.

499

:

Matt: We don't know Travis and Taylor

500

:

Dynae: not in real life sad.

501

:

I know.

502

:

, there's a lot of people that wish they did

503

:

Matt: that's true But we

were at this big long table.

504

:

They kind of sat us down It was me at

the end, you were next to me, Taylor was

505

:

next to you, and Travis was next to her.

506

:

And so we had these conversations.

507

:

Dynae: I think that my interpretation

is that you've just been

508

:

watching too many videos on the

pair since this all went down.

509

:

Matt: That's probably true.

510

:

Dynae: Anyway, it is hilarious to see a

grown man come to me and be like, I am a

511

:

giddy school girl about this whole thing.

512

:

Matt: There's nothing more

513

:

Dynae: that you want more world right now

514

:

Matt: currently than for this

relationship to succeed because I've

515

:

already loved Travis for 10 years.

516

:

Being a Chiefs fan, I

know how hilarious he is.

517

:

I know what a good dude he is.

518

:

. And it's just crazy now to be

like, oh, he's now dating the most

519

:

famous person in the entire world.

520

:

Dynae: Yeah, arguably the most, for sure.

521

:

Matt: And the fact that all of the

Swifties are now jumping on the bandwagon.

522

:

Dynae: And learning football.

523

:

Matt: And learning football and

learning how amazing Travis is.

524

:

So it makes me happy just to see all

of the happiness that they're bringing.

525

:

Does that make sense?

526

:

. Dynae: Well, and with all the

crud that's happening in the

527

:

world, you just need something.

528

:

You know, joyful.

529

:

Matt: Right.

530

:

And I think that's why I became a comedian

to begin with, is I feel like my whole

531

:

purpose in life is to make people happy.

532

:

Whatever they're going through,

that's part of why I did the show.

533

:

I just want to make people forget

about whatever's happening in

534

:

their life for that little two hour

span that they come and watch me.

535

:

Dynae: And just feel some joy.

536

:

Matt: And just laugh , and remember

they had a great experience.

537

:

Dynae: Yeah.

538

:

Matt: So that's also what

we want with you guys.

539

:

Are you having a great experience

right now listening to this podcast?

540

:

Dynae: Let us know.

541

:

Matt: Leave a review.

542

:

Dynae: So other than keeping tabs

on Taylor and Travis, we're also

543

:

very interested in psychology and

all of that kind of stuff too.

544

:

So we'll be talking a lot about mental

health and the, , kind of stuff that

545

:

we deal with personally, but also just

in general, because that stuff's just.

546

:

For sure from everything from

the psychology of like conspiracy

547

:

theories to you know I listen a

lot of true crime stuff and that

548

:

Matt: well and another thing we want to

do with this iteration of the podcast

549

:

is I would like to personally have

more interviews and more people come

550

:

on because we have a Really good friend

of mine from high school named Addie

551

:

Dynae: Mm hmm,

552

:

Matt: and we did a whole episode on

tarot cards and readings and doing

553

:

that because she does that stuff now

554

:

Dynae: Mm hmm,

555

:

Matt: and there were some audio issues

and it never got posted and it was

556

:

actually a really good episode So I

maybe we can see if she'll want to come

557

:

on again and we can try to rerecord

558

:

Dynae: Yeah, all of the kind of things

that's like very interesting to us I'm

559

:

gonna bring to you guys as well because I

just feel like we're not the only ones and

560

:

it's like things that were I don't want

to say necessarily taboo, but things we

561

:

never got into or questioned about when

we were younger is interesting to us now.

562

:

As you get older, I hope

that you keep a curious mind.

563

:

I hope that you stay open minded

because there are so many more lived

564

:

experiences than your own out there.

565

:

And I just find it incredibly interesting.

566

:

Matt: Right.

567

:

We find psychology fascinating.

568

:

We find , the unknown fascinating.

569

:

Dynae: The paranormal.

570

:

Matt: Paranormal stuff.

571

:

I'm hoping that we can get

into some paranormal stuff.

572

:

Dynae: So, you know, and that's the

goal here is like, it would be funny

573

:

for us if this, , ends up going

anywhere to be able to take trips

574

:

and . Would you go to a haunted house?

575

:

Matt: Now?

576

:

Dynae: Yeah.

577

:

Matt: You mean like a real

one, not like a fake Halloween?

578

:

Dynae: Hey, well, I know you

579

:

won't go to the fake ones

because you don't like those.

580

:

Matt: Well, I used to be, but

then we went to Universal.

581

:

Dynae: Not the like dark tourism where

you have to sign the waivers and they're

582

:

gonna basically torture you right.

583

:

Matt: Why would you do that?

584

:

Dynae: I don't know but people

have a waiting list for like two

585

:

years for these things I don't know

586

:

Matt: If people really, really

wanted it for the podcast

587

:

and we became popular enough.

588

:

Dynae: I'm not doing that.

589

:

I'm just going to go out

there on a limb, guys.

590

:

I'm not going to go that far.

591

:

If I have to sign a waiver for

my life to go to a haunted house,

592

:

probably not going to happen.

593

:

Matt: Maybe not sign a

waiver for my life, but

594

:

Dynae: I'm not going to

eat my own vomit either.

595

:

They do that in these things.

596

:

We're going to do a whole episode

on one of these at some point.

597

:

Matt: We're going to do a whole

episode on eating your own vomit.

598

:

Dynae: No, On these types of like

crazy haunted houses and stuff.

599

:

Matt: Oh my goodness.

600

:

Dynae: they're nuts, man.

601

:

Matt: So you've already realized

how scatterbrained we are just

602

:

in this first episode explaining.

603

:

How scatterbrained we are.

604

:

Dynae: I was going to say I'm

going to try to keep it on task,

605

:

but I go off on tangents too.

606

:

Matt: That's true.

607

:

So for this first episode, this is

basically what wanted to get into.

608

:

Who we are, why we started this

third iteration of the podcast

609

:

Dynae: What you can expect.

610

:

Matt: What you can expect.

611

:

We're very excited to have all of

you guys along for the journey.

612

:

Feel free to find our social media

pages, write comments or post, let

613

:

us know what you want to hear about.

614

:

We are more than welcome to do specific

episodes that people recommend.

615

:

Dynae: So yeah, go follow us on Instagram

616

:

617

:

Uh, we got a Facebook page called

619

:

Dynae: you can email us if you've got

620

:

that you'd like to share, email us at

happily ever laughter podcast at gmail.

621

:

com.

622

:

And we're also on TikTok right now.

623

:

It's at self made misfits because

I cannot for the life of me.

624

:

They will not change our

name for some reason.

625

:

Matt: That's weird.

626

:

Dynae: They keep telling me, okay,

every 30 days you can change it.

627

:

I try and then they say

I already changed it.

628

:

So it's been stuck there.

629

:

Matt: So eventually our TikTok will go

to Happily Ever Laughter podcast as well.

630

:

Dynae: Yep.

631

:

But right now it's at Self Made Misfits

if you're looking for us on that.

632

:

So that is how you get in contact with

us and we hope to hear from you guys.
